Railway Section Controller Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions prescribed in the official notification before applying for the recruitment.

- University Degree: Candidates must possess a minimum qualification of a Graduate Degree from a recognized University or its equivalent.

Nationality
To be eligible, a candidate must fall into one of the following categories:
- A Citizen of India
- A Subject of Nepal or Bhutan
- A Tibetan Refugee: Must have arrived in India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- A Person of Indian Origin (PIO): Must have migrated from specific countries—such as Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia), or Vietnam—with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Selection Process
The selection process consists of:
- Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Shortlisted candidates equal to 8 times the vacancies will be called based on CBT merit.
- Document Verification: Based on a combined merit of 70% weightage to CBT and 30% weightage to CBAT.
- Medical Examination.
RRB Section Controller Exam Pattern 2026
Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT)
The online single-stage CBT will be of objective type with multiple choices:

*Minimum qualifying marks: UR-40%, EWS-40%, OBC (NCL)-30%, SC-30%, ST-25%. PwBD candidates may get a relaxation of 2 marks in case of vacancy shortage.
Stage 2: Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- Test Design: It consists of multiple test batteries designed to evaluate concentration, situational reactions, and mental alertness.
- Language Medium: The questions and options are available only in English and Hindi.
- Negative Marking: There is NO negative marking in the CBAT stage.
- Qualifying Benchmark: Candidates must score a minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each individual test battery to qualify. This applies to everyone (UR, EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, ExSM) with no relaxation.
Stage 3: Document Verification (DV) & Final Merit Formula
Shortlisting for the Document Verification (DV) stage is done on a strict 1:1 ratio matching the total vacancies. The final selection merit list formula compiled is:
Stage 4: Medical Examination
- Mandatory Standard: A-2 Medical Category.
- Fitness Profile: Distant vision of 6/9 without glasses, normal color vision, night vision, and binocular vision.
- LASIK Alert: Candidates who have undergone LASIK or any other corrective refractive eye surgeries are completely ineligible for this post.

- Train Movement Control: Real-time monitoring and routing of passenger and freight trains within a dedicated rail section.
- Punctuality Management: Taking strategic calls to maintain timetable punctuality.
- Safety Operations: Managing safe line blocks for track engineering, repairs, and handling track disruptions or breakdowns.
- Inter-departmental Coordination: Keeping in constant link with station staff, traffic regulators, control rooms, and loco crew.
