RRB Technician 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions prescribed in the official notification before applying for the recruitment.
Educational Qualification
✔ Technician Grade I
Candidates must hold a degree or diploma in specific science or engineering fields. You need any one of the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.): In Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), or Instrumentation.
- Engineering Diploma: A 3-year Diploma in Engineering in the above basic streams or their combinations.
- Engineering Degree: A B.E. or B.Tech in the above basic streams or their combinations.
✔ Technician Grade III
To be eligible for any Grade 3 post, you must satisfy either of these two categories:
1.) Technical Trade Entry
- Matriculation (10th )/ SSLC pass PLUS an ITI certification from a recognized NCVT/SCVT institution in the relevant trade specific to the category (e.g., Fitter, Electrician, Wireman, Welder, Machinist, Diesel Mechanic, etc.).
- Alternative: Matriculation (10th) /SSLC plus a Course Completed Act Apprenticeship (CCAA) in the specified trade.
2.) Direct 12th Pass Entry (Only for S&T - Category 14):
- Passed 10+2 (Standard 12) with Physics and Mathematics. No ITI certificate is required for this specific post.

Age Limit
As per the official notification, the minimum age limit for all candidates is 18 years. However, the maximum age limit varies depending on the specific post applied for:
- Technician Grade 1 Signal: 18 to 33 years
- Technician Grade 3 Posts: 18 to 30 years

Nationality
To be eligible, a candidate must fall into one of the following categories:
- A Citizen of India
- A Subject of Nepal or Bhutan
- A Tibetan Refugee: Must have arrived in India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- A Person of Indian Origin (PIO): Must have migrated from specific countries—such as Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia), or Vietnam—with the intention of permanently settling in India.
